| BAIL BOND INFORMATION
If a person is arrested anywhere within Williamson County an officer
will transport an arrestee to the Williamson County Jail in Georgetown.
The arrestee must see the Magistrate (Judge) who arrives at 8:00
am, 7 days a week. He reviews the arrestees from the previous afternoon,
evening and early morning. The Magistrate then arraigns the newly
arrested and advises them of their charge, bond amount and their
Miranda Warnings.
Only if the newly arrested person is arrested on an outstanding
warrant and has a preset bond, any attorney may come to the jail
and execute a “Waiver of Right to be Magistrated” form.
At the time a waiver is done a bond may also be posted so that the
person arrested can be released.
Once the arrested is magistrated or an attorney has executed a
rights waiver, then the arrestee may post bond.
The bail bondsmen is paid a fee to post the full bond amount with
the Sheriff. The bond is a financial guarantee that the defendant
will appear for all of his or her court appearances until final
disposition of the case.
Once released, the bondsmen and the jailor should inform the defendant
of their first court date which is usually 3-6 weeks from the release
date. If the person fails to appear for any court date the bondsmen
is in jeopardy of losing their bond ( $ ).
The bondsmen and their client communicate to create a relationship
where in the defendant fully understands what the court expects
of them. It is always in the defendant’s best interest to
hire a criminal defense attorney to protect the their best interest.
